I feel surrounded. I am surrounded. By unfolded laundry, piles of unpaid bills, unwritten reports, the loud silence of unspoken words.
But what is saving my life right now is knitting. With every stitch on my needles, I see something new emerging (bright pink and purple stripes for a girl who wants to be just like her bright-pink-and-purple loving big sister). With every stitch on my needle, I see hope.
And what is saving my life right now is weeding. The garden is almost overwhelmed with the weeds that have blown in while we were gone on vacation, while I was overwhelmed with my own grief at accusations that I am supposed to bear silently. But with every tug at the weeds, I see the beetles running back to hide and I see the rich soil ready to give to my plants. With every tug, I see hope.
Both show me hope that in this place and time I can finish. In this place and time, it is worth continuing. In this place and time it is worth beginning again.

I feel the same way about knitting - it's practically meditative. Love the photo above.
